After more than two years of hard work, the D-day had arrived at last: we were going to present our website in the Haus der Geschichte in Bonn, the museum where we came up with the idea of exploring the Cold War to learn valuable lessons for our present and future.
Our big day started with a flashmob of the EU anthem, Beethoven’s «Ode to Joy».
Later on, we had the official presentation with the Head of the Pedagogical Department of the Museum, Dr. Simone Mergen, and the presence of the Headmasters of two of our schools, CoJoBo and Gamo Diana.
As we had rehearsed the previous day, our students explained the different sections of our website to the visitors. It was incredible to see how proudly they talked of their work. We also handed out badges with the project logo and flyers with a link to our website. At the end of the morning’s hard work, Kathrin Esswein, a representative from the German national agency, kindly congratulated us: «You nailed it!» .
Finally, on July 3rd we wanted our students to experience a very «European» day. We went to Brussels, the location of many EU institutions. There, we did some sightseeing in the city centre, and then visited the Parliamentarium and the European Parliament. On our way back to Bonn, we stopped at Aachen, Charlemagne’s imperial capital city.
Después de más de dos años de trabajo, por fin llegó el día D: íbamos a presentar nuestra web en la Casa de la Historia de Bonn, el museo donde se nos ocurrió la idea de explorar la Guerra Fría para aprender lecciones valiosas para nuestro presente y futuro.
Nuestro gran día comenzó con un flashmob del himno de la UE, el «Himno a la alegría» de Beethoven. Después tuvimos la presentación oficial con la Directora del Departamento Pedagógico del Museo, Dr. Simone Mergen, y la presencia de los Directores de dos de nuestros colegios, CoJoBo y Gamo Diana.
Tal y como habíamos ensayado el día anterior, nuestros alumnos explicaron las distintas secciones de nuestra web a los visitantes. Fue increíble ver con cuánto orgullo hablaban de su trabajo. También entregamos chapas con el logo del proyecto y flyers con un enlace a nuestra web. Al final de una mañana de duro trabajo, Kathrin Esswein, representante de la agencia nacional alemana, nos felicitó calurosamente: «¡Lo habéis clavado!»
Por último, el 3 de julio quisimos que nuestros alumnos tuvieran un día muy «europeo». Fuimos a Bruselas, sede de gran parte de las instituciones europeas. Allí visitamos el centro turístico de la ciudad, para posteriormente conocer el Parlamentarium y el Parlamento Europeo. De vuelta a Bonn nos detuvimos en Aquisgrán, la capital del imperio carolingio.
