Four weeks have gone by since we were on a plane about to arrive in Bonn. And we were so nervous about where we were going to stay, who we were going to meet and what we were going to do that we couldn’t stop screaming. And we were so excited, even though we didn’t know how great it was going to be.
We stayed there just for three days, and I could speak for hours about all the stuff that we did (which was a lot; everything you hear about German people being highly efficient is absolutely true), but I think that’s not really important. What really matters is that we met a lot of wonderful people, we learnt how wrong stereotypes are (except for the efficiency one. I swear, those people are unbelievable), and we were able to communicate in a foreign language without being too uncomfortable.
Everything in this trip turned out to be fantastic: Bonn and Cologne were so beautiful, and everything was so clean, and the food was so good, and everyone was so friendly…
We have been really lucky to have this opportunity, and I am really, really grateful for every minute of it. As I said, it’s been four weeks now and I don’t think we are ready to face reality yet. But, anyway, I don’t think we ever were.
Now some pictures of us being incredibly awesome:
This is us being incredibly awesome at the airport before the flight and before saying goodbye to our parents and really really nervous because German people were going to be so weird and German.
This is us being incredibly awesome at the Beethoven House, where they took us after we tried to explain a hundred times who Beethoven was (apparently they don’t understand our perfect pronunciation of his name).
This is a beautiful autumn-in-Bonn picture of us being incredibly awesome in front of a statue of someone that nobody knew.
This is us being absolutely awesome in front of the absolutely awesome cathedral of Cologne, when we all were already friends and we only had one day left and we didn’t want to leave and life was still beautiful.
And this is the absolutely awesome currywurst.
Y esto es el fabuloso currywurst.
